BRIXTOL TEXTILES AND SUSTAINABILITY

FOR AW20 WE HAVE CONTINUED OUR WORK WITH MAKING SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTS. OUR VIEW ON SUSTAINABILITY IS TO USE AS MUCH RECYCLED MATERIALS AS POSSIBLE. FOR AW20 60% OF OUR PRODUCTS ARE MADE OUT OF RECYCLED MATERIALS.

THE REASON OUR ANGLE IS RECYCLING

A LARGE PORTION OF THE TOTAL RESOURCE USED WHEN PRODUCING FABRICS ARE IN THE INITIAL PROCESSES WHEN REFINING A FIBER AND MAKING IT INTO A THREAD THAT IS LATER WOVEN INTO A FABRIC.
BY RECYCLING SOMETHING THAT ALREADY HAS PASSED MANY OF THESE STAGES A LOT OF RESOURCES ARE SAVED THAT IS STRENUOUS ON THE ENVIRONMENT.
AN IMPORTANT ASPECT OF SUSTAINABILITY IS THAT A GARMENT HAS A LONG LIFETIME, THEREFOR WE ALSO MAKE SURE TO USE RECYCLED FABRICS OF HIGH QUALITY.

GRS CERTIFIED

90% OF THE RECYCLED FABRICS WE USE ARE GRS (GLOBAL RECYCLE STANDARD) CERTIFIED.
THE REMAINING 10% OF THE FABRICS ARE FROM SMALLER FABRIC MILLS THAT CAN NOT AFFORD GETTING THE CERTIFICATION.

RECYCLED WOOL

WE USE RECYCLED WOOL AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. THE PROCESS OF RECYCLING WOOL IS EVEN MORE COMPLEX THEN RECYCLING COTTON. THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO MACHINES THAT CAN SORT THE WOOL GARMENTS AND FABRICS THAT EVENTUALLY BECOME A FABRIC MADE FROM RECYCLED FIBERS. THE GARMENTS MUST THEREFORE FIRST BE STRIPPED FROM THE LINING AND TRIMS (BUTTONS ETC) AND THEN DIVIDED ACCORDING TO COMPOSITION.

SOMETIMES IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO ACHIEVE THE DESIRED FINISH, MELANGE EFFECT AND COLOR WHEN USING RECYCLED WOOL. IF SO, WE USE 100% EUROPEAN WOOL – A LARGE PROPORTION OF THE WORLD’S WOOL COMES FROM AUSTRALIA. BY USING EUROPEAN WOOL WE AVOID SHIPPING WITH FREIGHT TANKERS FROM AUSTRALIA WHICH IS A GREAT SAVING OF EMISSIONS.

THE AW20 COLLECTION

FOR THIS SEASON WE HAVE INVESTED IN OUR BEST PERFORMING CARRY OVERS BY ADDING NEW COLORS. WE BELIEVE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING FOR A JACKET SUPPLIER IS TO OFFER GARMENTS THAT HAS A TIMELESS LOOK SO IT CAN BE USED AND SOLD FOR SEVERAL SEASONS WITHOUT BEING OUT OF TREND.
